In an industry historically reliant on fossil fuels, our commitment to embracing a greener approach is increasingly crucial. Although we haven’t achieved our net-zero emissions goal yet, our continuous investments and initiatives are driving us steadily closer to that objective.
In 2019, we relocated our depot to the outskirts of Cramlington, focusing on establishing a more environmentally friendly workplace. Upon arrival, we installed ground source heating pumps as well as focussing on LED lighting across the depot and our latest addition in late 2023 saw us proudly introduce 404 new solar panels atop our depot’s roof, each capable of generating approximately 170kWp.
These advancements now enable us to self-generate power through entirely renewable technologies, transforming how we heat our workshop, fabrication shop and wash bays into a greener process.
Prioritising renewable technologies has long been central to our vision. By harnessing the Earth’s heat and utilising solar energy, we’ve significantly reduced our personal reliance on carbon-emitting fuels. To ensure a sustainable cycle, we even power the ground source heat pumps with electricity generated from our solar panels.
The implementation of these renewable technologies is predicted to make a substantial impact in the coming year, estimated to help us avoid emitting 77,972kg of carbon dioxide annually. This reduction, stemming from our focus on renewable energy, marks a significant stride towards our broader sustainability goals.
